There is very encouraging news for cinema patrons reeling under the impact of prohibitive ticket prices. After the super-success of National Cinema Day on September 23 when ticket prices at multiplexes across the nation were reduced to Rs 75, the multiplex associations have taken a decision to reduce the ticket prices from Monday .
This time it won’t be as cheap as Rs 75,but close: from Monday , September 26 to September 29 , tickets will cost 100-110 rupees.
A source in the know tells me this is the first step towards a permanent revamp of ticket prices.
“They are planning to reduce ticket rates from 300-350 rupees to 100-110 rupees on a permanent basis. For now the price-slash is for four days. But after the release of the two biggies next Friday, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I and Vikram Vedha , ticket prices are likely to be permanently revised. It is the only way cinemas can survive,” the source informs.
