AKA Charlie Sheen

AKA Charlie Sheen is a new 2-part miniseries just released on Netflix on September 10, 2025. It was trending at the top of Netflix’s streaming charts last week and has been one of the most buzzworthy new releases on the streaming platform this month.

AKA Charlie Sheen reflects on the bizarre rise and fall of celebrated actor Charlie Sheen, who made waves in the early 2010s through his infamous, drug-fueled interviews. While this part of Sheen’s career became some of the Internet’s biggest and earliest meme-worthy moments, what lurked beneath Sheen’s antics were tragic battles with addiction and a media landscape that not only profited from it but in some ways celebrated it.

In the new Netflix documentary, Charlie Sheen, who recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, gives candid responses to the televised phenomenon that led to him leaving his beloved sitcom, Two and A Half Men, in 2011. Sheen, who has been sober for seven years, also reveals previously unknown insights and untold stories from that tumultuous time in his career.

AKA Charlie Sheen has received mostly positive reviews from critics, including a 70% Rotten Tomatoes score and a 7.8 rating on IMDB. The docuseries is in no way a poof piece and features a raw, unfiltered look at the man behind the myth. At two episodes, roughly 90 minutes each, it’s a great binge-watching pick this week.

Nashville

Nashville seasons 1-6 will arrive on September 15, 2025. The series was originally released back in 2012 and concluded in 2018 after 124 episodes. The series was nominated for 2 Emmy nominations during that time, including Lead Actress for Connie Britton and Original Music and Lyrics.

Nashville originally aired on ABC before getting canceled after its fourth season. It carried out its remaining two seasons on CMT. Now, it will be exclusively available to stream on Netflix. The series follows a group of fictional country singers in Nashville, Tennessee, who all have aspirations of becoming famous or maintaining their spotlight.

In addition to Britton, Nashville stars Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, who is on the brink of becoming the next big thing in country music. Juliette enters the fold as Britton’s Rayna James feels as though her star power is slowly beginning to fade. Naturally, this quickly forms a rivalry between the two lead characters.

Nashville earned an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 91% for all six seasons, including two perfect ratings for seasons 2 and 3. If you’re looking for something nostalgic with a focus on country music, along with the various feuds and romances that go along with it, then Nashville is a great choice for you this week.

Zero Day

Zero Day is one of several Emmy-nominated Netflix series in contention at the 2025 Emmys. Starring legendary actor Robert De Niro, Zero Day features a fantastic ensemble cast including Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Angela Bassett, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, and more.

De Niro stars as the former President of the United States who is given unprecedented access and power to investigate a cyberterrorism attack that took the lives of thousands of people. The date of the attack is known as “Zero Day”. De Niro’s George Mullen leads the special commission that investigates who is behind the attack and possible motivations.

Zero Day received three Emmy nominations, including Directing and Cinematography. Despite its acknowledgment by the Television Academy, the reception for Zero Day was ultimately a mixed bag between critics and audiences, resulting in a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 54%.

Collider gave Zero Day a 7/10 rating, noting, “Zero Day aims high and comes up short of the heights of shows like Homeland, but at six episodes, it manages to be thrilling without overstaying its welcome.” While it may not be the most universally acclaimed political thriller, it’s certainly worth a watch for fans of the genre and of De Niro who are willing to see for themselves whether it’s worth their while.

Love On The Spectrum

Love on the Spectrum is one of the most beloved reality series on Netflix. The US version just won two awards at the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, including Outstanding Casting in a Reality Program and Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. These add to the series’ total of 7 Emmy Awards.

Love on the Spectrum is a dating reality show that focuses on young adults on the autism spectrum looking for love. It originally premiered in 2019, set in Australia, and ran for two seasons until 2021 (which is also available to stream on Netflix).

Love on the Spectrum has a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and an impressive 8.6 rating on IMDb. Critics and fans alike call it one of the most insightful and sweetest dating reality shows on television, period. It can very easily become your new favorite comfort-watch show.

The Guardian writes in their review, “Dating shows can be curiously lacking in love, sometimes; the pursuit of love does not always equal the winning of it. But Love on the Spectrum is packed with love, not just of the romantic kind, but from family, friends and community.”

If you’re looking for a break from another crime action thriller or are jaded by cop dramas and dark, violent content, then there is arguably no other series better suited for you to watch this week than Love on the Spectrum on Netflix.

Black Rabbit

If there’s only one series you watch on Netflix this week, it has got to be Black Rabbit. Starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, this gritty crime thriller is poised to be one of the best new series on television, regardless of genre or streaming platform.

All eight episodes of Black Rabbit will be released on Thursday, September 18, 2025. The series features several key figures from Netflix’s masterful crime drama Ozark, including both Bateman and Laura Linney as directors. The series is created by Zach Baylin, who wrote the screenplay for the 2024 dark heist thriller The Order, which also starred Law.

Black Rabbit is going to be one of the greatest shows of next year’s Emmy pool, released just days after the 2025 Emmys ceremony. It’s in a great position to become one of Netflix’s biggest streaming hits of 2025 and is expected to be superior in quality to Netflix’s previous 2025 releases in the genre, such as The Waterfront.

Fans of Ozark and The Order will know exactly what kind of show Black Rabbit will be – dark, unrelenting, full of tension, and constructed with a pulse-pounding pace. The filmmaking is also expected to be some of the best of the year, not only on Netflix, but in general, thanks to the proven directing skill of not just Bateman and Linney, but also Justin Kurzel (The Order) and Ben Semanoff (Ozark).

Bateman plays Vince, the deadbeat brother of Law’s Jake, who owns a prominent restaurant and bar in New York City. When Vince strolls back into town asking Jake for help, all hell starts to break loose for the brothers. If you have an active Netflix subscription, you simply have to watch Black Rabbit this week.
