Trade Talk: Dhurandhar Is The Longest Hindi Film In 17 Years

Dhurandhar

At  3 hours and 34 minutes, Aditya Dhar’s  Dhurandhar is  the lengthiest  Hindi  film since  Ashutosh Gowariker’s  Jodha-Akbar which was  just a minute shorter.

Movie theatres are  now wondering how  they would be able to  accommodate additional shows,

Says  Kumar  Abhishek, manager Connplex, “We’ve never played a  film so long. Also, Tere Ishk Mein from last Friday is doing well .So we will have  to accommodate a  few shows of that as well.”

Dhurandhar  is classified ‘18’  by the British Board of Film Classification. The ‘18’ certification  is given  only to  films which  are exceedingly  violent or sexual in content.

It must be   noted  that Chhaava which contained  prolonged and  graphic  sequences  of torture was given a ‘15’ certification by the  British Board Of Certification.

So is Dhurandhar  the  most violent Hindi film  of  all times?

Madhavan who plays  a  key role  in  Dhurandhar takes on the  question of the  film’s  violent  content. “We are living  through extremely  volatile  times.  Cinema is  a reflection of the times we live  in. Dhurandhar has as much violence as  the subject requires. Sure, it is  not  a  film for  children. The  ‘A’ certification  from the  Central Board Of Film Certification makes the  target  audience  very clear.”
