Up Close & Personal: 5 Halo Melee Weapons That Can Make Bug Divers Invincible in Helldivers 2

It seems like a Helldivers 2 x Halo 3: ODST crossover is on the cards, and that means a wave of new weapons and cosmetics to spread managed democracy. But if there’s one thing we need from Halo verse, it’s these five melee weapons. Let’s just say, they would be perfect for wiping out Terminds up close and fast.

5 Gravity Hammer

The Gravity Hammers have always been one of the most controversial weapons in the Halo community, with some saying it’s too busted in multiplayer. But we believe in Helldivers 2; it could be the perfect melee addition. Think of it as the Brute’s counterpart to the Energy Sword with multiple different variants.

The Gravity Hammer is a massive two-handed weapon that uses the power of gravity to deliver absolutely lethal blows. Just one swing from this thing is enough to turn multiple enemies into a puddle of blood and bones. Just imagine using it during a bug breach: you’ll be able to clear the Terminid swarm in a matter of seconds.

4 Energy Sword

If there’s one weapon as iconic to Halo as Master Chief himself, it’s the Sangheili Energy Sword. Chances are that you’ve seen this melee nightmare in some game or other. It can basically one-shot anything that’s standing in front of it, even Spartans (RIP Noble Four).

We believe that in Helldivers 2, this weapon could be the perfect melee choice against bug enemies with AP 2-3. Arrowhead can keep things balanced by making the Energy Sword lose charge with each successful hit, just like in the Halo games.

3 Promethean arm-blade

It’s safe to say that Prometheans didn’t win anyone when they debuted with Halo 4. Their constant teleporting and boring combat style made them more frustrating than fun, and their weapons didn’t help things either. A prime example is the arm-blade or the lightblade used by Promethean Knights. It’s similar to the Energy Sword, which allows it to easily cut through shields and armor.

However, this weapon can easily shine in the world of Helldivers, especially against bug enemies such as Impalers, Bile Titans, and Chargers. Just think about diving into slicing them down in seconds with this melee weapon. With proper balancing, like a limited range and a rechargeable ability similar to the Quasar, it could be a great way to delete those hard-hitting bugs off the map.

2 Energy Stave

The Energy Stave is one of the ceremonial Covenant weapons that was also used on the battlefield against humanity. Basically, it’s a long emtal staff that radiates a superheated plasma blade. While it doesn’t look as deadly as some other weapons on this list, don’t underestimate it, as the Energy Stave is built for close-quarters.

To bring it to Helldivers, Arrowhead doesn’t really need to go over the board and bring some new mechanics. It could function similarly to the CQC-19 Stun Lance and be another melee option to stun bugs in the battle.

1 Brute Shot

For our final pick, we’re going with the Jiralhanae’s Brute Shot. Now, Halo fans might wonder, how does a grenade launcher make it into a melee weapons list? Well, clearly, you don’t know about the brutal bayonet attached underneath this thing. In the right hands, this blade can slice enemies clean in half, which makes it one of the deadliest weapons out there.

Halo Weapon Effective Against in Helldivers 2
Gravity Hammer Terminid Swarms
Energy Sword Nursing Spewer, Hunter, and Warrior
Promethean arm-blade Bile Titans, Impalers and Chargers
Energy Stave Terminid Swarms
Brute Shot Terminid Swarms

Now, picture yourself charging through hordes of bugs in the game with a Brute Shot. Once you’ve managed to empty your grenades, make the switch to the bayonet, and finish off any survivors with ruthless strikes. Bugs won’t have any time to complain about this brutality, Helldivers, as they’ll be in pieces.

With that said, is there any weapon from the Halo verse you’d like to see in Helldivers 2? Let us know in the comments below.
