Finally It’s Vikrant Massey  In Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Milan Talkies, Dhulia’s 6-Year Search For A Leading Man Comes To An End

Beleaguered director Tigmanshu Dhulia who has not had a release since the ill-fatedBullett Raja in 2013 has finally ended his 6-year old search for a leading man in his hibernating project Milan Talkies.

After going into the hands of  such varied heroes as Shahid Kapoor and Imran KhanMilan Talkies,a quirky tale of a small –town video pirate in the 1970s, has passed into the hands of the very talented Vikrant Massey, last seen as  the surreptitious boyfriend sneaking up on Ridhima Sud  in Zoya Akhtar’s Dil Dhadakne Do  as well as sharing anicecream with Alia Bhatt for an ad,has been chosen to play the lead in TigmanshuDhulia’s Milan Talkies.

The role has so far  had a chequered history. In 2012 it was offered first offered toPrateik Babbar who began preparing for the character, brushing up his Hindi, etc. Then due to commercial constraints Prateik was dropped and replaced by Shahid Kapoor who seemed very excited about  the role. A fall-out with the producers and a conflict of interest between the actor and the director, and the project was finally offered to ImranKhan amidst a heightened display of mutual joy between the director and actor.

Several flops later, the idea of Imran Khan treaming up with Dhulia for an offbeat film was seen to be not very exciting.

Milan Talkies was back to square 1.

Now the upcoming and much talked-about Vikrant Massey who currently plays the lead in Konkona Sen Sharma’s directorial debut A Death In The Gunj is relieved to see  his career finally moving in the right direction. “It’s a been a very long struggle, believe me. I started on television in   2004.Then the bit parts like that of Ranveer Singh’s buddy in Lootera came my way.I waited long for solid opportunities to come my way.”
