There are scenes of torture and brutality in Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2 including a shot of a hand being chopped off and a man with a punctured throat bleeding to death. What would otherwise have automatically been censored has miraculously escaped censorial scrutiny in Vishwaroopam 2.
What is more, this film with its graphic violence has gotten away with a ‘UA’ certification with no cuts whereas the same film has been granted a ‘15’ certification in Britain with the explanation that the film contains “strong bloody violence”.
Does this mean that the Indian censor board has become even more liberal than its British counterpart?
Incidentally, the CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi has written the lyrics for the Hindi version of Vishwaroopam 2.
