The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri along with his wife and co-producer Pallavi Joshi and producer Abhishek Aggarwal have sent a legal notice to West Bengal’s CM Mamta Banerjee for “false and highly defamatory statements made with malafide intention to defame us and our films.”
The notice sent through advocate Shyam S Aggarwal in Hyderabad states, among other things, that CM Banerjee had made several allegedly false allegations against The Kashmir Files .Among these allegations the legal notice points out that Ms Banerjee had alleged that Agnihotri’s film was funded by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
This is the first time that a Chief minister of a state has been sued by a filmmaker.
It is significant that the notice comes after Ms Banerjee imposed a ban on Sudipto Chatterjee’s The Kerala Story.
