Searching for a hidden gem on Tubi? You’ll find plenty there to whet your appetite for weird, but there’s one in particular you shouldn’t sleep on. “Kill List” is waiting, and it’s one of the most effective bait-and-switch films ever made.
This strange, surreal thriller is a bit of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. It poses as a crime drama about two ex-soldiers taking on a new hitman contract. But as they work their way down the “kill list,” things take a turn for the weird. And suddenly, the movie is no longer just about striking off names on a list; it’s a lot deeper, darker, and scarier.
What’s ‘Kill List’ about?
Jay (Neil Maskell) is an ex-soldier living in England, and the eight months since his last job have left his marriage to Shel (MyAnna Buring) strained and his bank account empty. Things change when his old partner, Gal (Michael Smiley), shows up for a dinner party. He’s got a high-paying gig lined up for them from a mysterious new client.

Most partners would walk away when a new client insists on signing a contract in blood, but Jay and Gal, desperate for the money, reluctantly agree. They are given a list of three targets: “The Priest,” “The Librarian” and “The MP.”
Their search starts with the first target. But when “The Priest” seems to recognize Jay and thanks him just before he’s killed, the job becomes something else entirely. Next thing you know, they’ve gone down a dark and scary rabbit hole as they realize these aren’t your average hitman targets.
