Johnny’s revenge plan against Blake Beaumont’s team in We Were Liars explained
We Were Liars Episode 5’s flashbacks reveal that Johnny led a tennis team. It also establishes his rivalry with Blake Beaumont, who led a rival team.
Blake and his team spark a conflict between themselves and Johnny’s team. This is after they make a mess of the latter’s lockers during a tournament. Johnny and his team retaliate by flooding Blake’s team’s tennis court. Unfortunately, Johnny’s team’s actions are witnessed by Delgado, a young boy. Fearing the repercussions of being caught, Johnny catches Delgado and brutally beats him up.
Johnny later learns that Delgado has been hospitalized. This prompts him to confess to his mother, Carrie, what he did to the boy. Carrie subsequently remedies the situation by bribing Delgado, the latter’s doctors and family, as well as Blake’s team, into silence about Johnny’s actions. Prior to this, Blake, who had a recording of Johnny beating Delgado, planned to blackmail the latter and his family by releasing the video online.
Blake and Johnny’s rivalry was complicated by the former’s romantic feelings towards the latter. His feelings became even more complicated after he found out that Blake and Mirren were texting each other during the summer.
Unfortunately, fans will never get to see Johnny address his feelings for Blake to the latter. This is because the first season’s ending revealed that the former died in the fire that burned the Clairmont mansion to the ground.
We Were Liars is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
