What Happens To Chris Butler in & After Trainwreck: PI Moms?

The latest documentary from Netflix, Trainwreck: P.I. Moms, delves into another bizarre case, where former police officer Chris Butler started a Private Investigation agency with a few mothers that he trained. Despite the offbeat appeal of this venture, which also almost spawned a Lifetime reality show, it all came crashing down when Butler was caught being involved in illegal activities himself.

Does Chris Butler go to prison in or after Trainwreck: PI Moms?

After pleading guilty to multiple federal charges, Butler was sent to jail for around eight years.

Butler is a former Antioch police officer who allegedly left the force and founded Butler & Associates Private Investigations. He allegedly believed that women were better multitaskers and hence hired several mothers and trained them as Private Investigators.

They eventually came to be known as the PI Moms. The venture worked quite well, especially after the PI Moms appeared on the Dr. Phil show. Lifetime soon decided to make a series on them.

However, things did not seem to be all solid. Some investigations appeared to be staged, and Chris Butler was overpromising stories that did not have a lot of validity. Moreover, his colleague and Director of Operations Carl Marino also seemed to be needlessly interfering. But these were far from the primary problem that was about to hit PI Moms.

In 2012, Butler pleaded guilty to seven federal charges. He was allegedly working with Norman Wielsch, the former Central Contra Costa County Narcotics Enforcement Team Commander, to steal and sell drugs. He pleaded guilty to robbery, extortion, and conspiracy charges, among others.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison and fined $20,000. According to reports, he received a reduced sentence for cooperating with the police. Considering his sentence, he should be out of prison by now. But his present whereabouts remain completely unknown as of now.

Trainwreck: PI Moms sheds more details on this case and Chris Butler. It is now streaming on Netflix.
