They Are Short Of Leading Ladies
By a Correspondent
Why do some Bollywood heroes have all the luck with the leading ladies, while some struggle to get co-stars? Sunny Deol, one of the 1990s’ biggest stars, has been facing an acute scarcity of heroines for more than a decade now.Even his old hit heroines like Shilpa Shettyand Raveena Tandon had begun to shy away from romancing theDeol on screen. Things came to such a sorry pass in Sunny’s gloomy career that he was reduced to being paired with the likes of UrvashiRautela and Eesha Koppikar(in Singh Saab The Great and Right Ya Wrong).
For some curious reasons, Sooraj Pancholi, who was introduced three years ago with much fanfare in Nikhil Advani’s remake of Herofinds himself sailing in the Deol boat.
Apparently no leading lady is willing to work with young Pancholi.
A prominent filmmaker who wanted to cast Sooraj in a love story says, “For some reason every heroine I spoke to said no to being paired with Sooraj. I even approached a couple of newcomers. They also said no.”
Apparently the ‘jail-returned’ image bad-boy image has affected the newcomer’s career.Sanjay Dutt also faces an acute heroine shortage post his incarceration.
