With the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, fans have been waiting for the movie to be released online, but unfortunately, it won’t be leaving theaters in 2025. Furthermore, Crunchyroll has confirmed that we will have to be patient until 2026.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has been dominating theaters worldwide, surpassing the likes of James Gunn’s Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and F1: The Movie. It has become the highest-grossing Japanese movie of all time, breaking the records of its previous holders, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and Spirited Away.
Now, it stands at the sixth-highest-grossing movie in 2025. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is a force to be reckoned with, accompanied by stunning visuals and an epic plot that was a guaranteed win for the franchise, and on its way to making $1 billion.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Won’t Be On Crunchyroll Until 2026
Crunchyroll has made its decision not to release Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle on its streaming platform until after 2026. No date has been confirmed yet, either. This was confirmed by Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s Executive Vice President of Global Commerce, in an interview with Popverse. He decisively states:
Go see [Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle] in the theater because the theater is the only place you’re going to be able to see this film in 2025.
The theatrical experience of the movie is on a whole other level, so we can understand why Crunchyroll chooses to keep it there. It pales in comparison to the small screen of your laptop, monitor, or even a television. The impact is only felt in the surround sound and the combined cheers of the fans.

Once 2026 hits, it shouldn’t be too long until Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is available on Crunchyroll. Previous movies took a year to get on the platform. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was released in Japan on October 16, 2020, with a staggered international release, but it hit Crunchyroll on October 4, 2021.
On the flip side, Demon Slayer: To the Swordsmith Village wasn’t as big a hit. It was released in Japanese theaters on February 3, 2023, and only two months later, on April 9, 2023, it became available on Crunchyroll. Similarly, To the Hashira Training, which was released in theaters on February 2, 2024, was also available online on May 12, 2024.
This is partly because Mugen Train was a separate movie, while the other two were compilations of episodes from the anime. Thus, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle could potentially be available in July 2026.
Keeping Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle in Theaters This Long Is a Bold Move

It’s only natural that Crunchyroll would want such a highly anticipated epic movie to be in theaters as long as possible. The sporadic release timeline already had fans rather frustrated over not being able to watch the movie with its original release. It makes sense to keep Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle going in theaters, so that everyone can get a chance to watch it.
There are also the box office records to consider. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is a profitable title. Any expectations we had for the movie before it came out, when Mugen Train was the gold standard (and in many ways, still is), it has absolutely shattered and crossed several popular movies.
| Movie | Total Box Office Record (As of October 11, 2025) | IMDb Rating |
| Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle | $634.7 million | 8.5/10 |
There is a negative side to it, where Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle remains inaccessible to people who aren’t able to go to a theater. It’s a bold choice to keep it offline until 2026, but it’s nothing they haven’t done before. Mugen Train worked this way, so Infinity Castle will be given the same treatment.
