Hallmark’s original series “The Chicken Sisters” debuts on the network on March 30. Fans loved the first episodes when they premiered in September 2024 on Hallmark+. Now, the season begins airing on the network itself.

Fans who have not already checked the show out via Hallmark+ will want to know who is starring in the series, along with a little bit about what to expect.

The Ladies Are Stirring Up Chaos in ‘The Chicken Sisters’

On March 10, Hallmark shared a teaser preview for “The Chicken Sisters” via YouTube. The series stars Lea Thompson, Wendie Malick, Schuyler Fisk, and Genevieve Angelson.

Hallmark’s page for the series breaks down what viewers can expect from the series. “Sisters Amanda and Mae are reunited when reality show ‘Kitchen Clash’ comes to their town, and the competition between their two feuding restaurants heats up.”

The synopsis for the series on IMDb teases, “Families feud over generational conflict between rival fried chicken restaurants Mimi’s and Frannie’s, dividing the town as loyalties are tested.”

The first season consisted of eight episodes. There are signs that a second season of “The Chicken Sisters” is on the way.

Malick plays the character of “Gus,” who Hallmark teases is “tough as nails on the outside but sweet on the inside.” Gus is the mother of both Amanda (Schuyler Fisk) and Mae (Genevieve Angelson), and Amanda married Frank Jr., played by James Kot. Thompson plays Nancy, Frank Jr.’s mother.

Star Lea Thompson Has Ideas for a Second Season, Too

Hallmark+ viewers know how the first season of “The Chicken Sisters” ends. Traditional Hallmark fans will learn where things stand in Merinac in a couple of months.

As Soaps.com shared in October 2024, the first season ends with plenty of room for additional storytelling.

Thompson told the media outlet that throughout a new season, “It’s really important… for people to have a sense of community.”

“The show really brings together the idea that we can disagree, but we can make things work out between each other, which you have to when you live in a small town and you’re family,” Thompson added.

Thompson hinted a second season was on the way. She said she was “curious and excited” about what would happen as “The Chicken Sisters” continued. Regardless of how season 1 ended, Thompson suspects there is more tension and drama ahead.

The Hallmark series is based on the 2020 novel “The Chicken Sisters,” written by KJ Dell’Antonia.
