While there is no shortage of romance on General Hospital, it’s Sonny Corinthos and Justine Turner’s growing closeness that has sparked considerable debate online.
Sonny is a mobster, and Justine is an Assistant District Attorney. This combination of people from opposite sides of the law may seem interesting, but it’s nothing new on the show. In the past, Sonny has dated Kristina (Kate Mansi) and Carly (Laura Wright), both of whom are lawyers. Given his past, the possibility of a romance with Justine has garnered mixed reactions.
Earlier, Soap Opera Digest conducted a poll where fans of the show were asked to vote on their stance. Interestingly, the report suggests that the poll was almost evenly split, with 55% of fans voting in favor of Sonny and Justine becoming a couple.
The result aligns with the ongoing story where Justine has been exposed to Sonny’s softer side in the past episodes. Additionally, Nazneen Contractor, who plays Justine, shares a similar perspective.
In an interview with TV Insider in August, Contractor said that Justine is “seeing a different side” of Sonny. “It’s fun for Justine to discover that he’s not entirely what he appears to be to her, and how she navigates the responsibility of doing her job with seeing this other side of him,” she added.
Furthermore, she also admitted that working with Maurice Benard, who plays Sonny, has been “great.” “He is very present, and I don’t really know what he’s going to do, so it really forces me to be extremely open and very in the moment. I love that,” the actress shared.
