While there were rumors and expectations among fans that we would get to see crossovers between NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Hawai’i, unfortunately, there is no confirmed crossover as of now. This is largely because NCIS: Hawai’i has been cancelled.
However, there is a possibility that the showrunners and franchise executives have left the door open for some form of crossover in the future, especially with NCIS (the main show) or NCIS: Origins.
But, at the same time, the challenges of distance, logistics, and production costs make such crossovers tricky, but not impossible. For now, with NCIS: Sydney on its third season, fans expect individual character appearances.
Why Was NCIS: Hawai’i Cancelled?
The cancellation of NCIS: Hawai’i can be linked to several reasons, as Deadline reported. While CBS has not given a reason why the series was canceled after three seasons, the decision came as a shock due to its ratings and viewership.
Prior to the news of its cancellation, there were some reports that the producers had agreed to a massive budget cut and even other concessions. However, nothing really worked in the end. The first series in the larger NCIS franchise to have a female lead, it was also not able to get a proper sendoff.

Eventually, despite enthusiasm from fans, the series ended up being cancelled due to a casualty of a strong schedule, cost-management drive, and overall uncertainty as Paramount was in the process of being sold at that time. But before all this, the series was plagued by other causes.
From being delayed due to strikes to having been launched alongside the Super Bowl, CBS had already decided on five scripted shows, which made Hawai’i a weak contender for renewal.
When Is NCIS: Sydney Season 3 Releasing?

While NCIS: Hawai’i has been cancelled, NCIS: Sydney is still running. The Australian military police procedural drama is the first spin-off of the long-running series situated outside of the United States.
The series was renewed for a third season in February and is scheduled to premiere on October 14, 2025, on Paramount+. The first episode is titled Gut Instinct, and the official logline reads (via TV Insider):
The discovery of two missing U.S. Navy aviators adrift in the Coral Sea leads the team to expose a sinister terrorist plot.
The season will bring back several recurring and new actors. While the details of the cast have not been revealed, we expect actors like Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, William McInnes, and more to return. For more details, we will have to wait till the season premieres.
