In just five years and with 9 hits and only one flop in her oeuvre, Alia Bhatt has risen to the level of the topmost leading lady of Bollywood leaving behind the other claimants and contenders to the throne such as Kareena Kapoor Khan,Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and even Deepika Padukone…
So far Deepika was seen as Alia’s only true competitor. But the super-success of Raazi has tilted the scales completely. Belying all expectations this grossed overhas grossed over Rs 50 crores in the first weekend at the Indian boxoffice alone.
And the film shows no signs of slackening its hold at the boxoffice in the second week.
The miraculous success of Raazi has completely turned the equation in Alia’s favour.
And with reports coming in from reliable sources that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is looking at signing Alia, Padukone has reason to feel highly insecure.
“Besides Bhansali , Deepika doesn’t really have much to endorse her stardom, whereas Alia seems to click with every director from Karan Johar to Meghna Gulzar. Now if Bhansali is looking at signing Alia, Deepika has to do some serious strategizing,” says a leading trade analyst who wishes to remain unnamed.
We suggest a two-heroine film starring Deepika and Alia. If you can’t beat them, join them.
