Wolf King will be returning for a second and final season on Thursday, September 11th, 2025. The news comes as we speculated and reported earlier this year that a second season was on the way. A new trailer and first look pictures have dropped alongside the announcement.
This wasn’t a traditional renewal, as the series was ordered with two seasons upfront from Lime Pictures and Jellyfish Pictures. As you may know, the latter ceased operations in its original form shortly after delivering both this show and the new movie The Twits, scheduled to drop later this year. They continue to exist under a new entity, JFX. Assemblage Entertainment, Brain Audio, and Dock10 are also behind the show.
The good news is that this isn’t a cancellation either – it was always designed to be two seasons, with Curtis Jobling, the creator of the novels and deeply involved with the Netflix series, confirming on his website that “all six novels” are being adapted across the two seasons. As fans of the novels have pointed out, the series is taking a few liberties with which books to adapt, given that it will only have 16 episodes in total.
The synopsis for the second season reads: “As he fights for his throne and faces enemies from all sides, Drew learns the heavy burden of being king — and the daunting task of choosing a queen.”
Upon its initial release, season 1 of the show picked up modest viewership, spending two weeks in the global top 10s with 5.5M views. The Netflix Engagement Report suggests the show was the 146th most-watched title for the period of January through June 2025, with 9.5M views (33.7M hours watched).
The season 2 voice cast includes Ceallach Spellman as Drew Ferran, Nina Barker-Francis as Whitley, Georgia Lock as Lady Gretchen, Chris Lew Kum Hoi as Hector, Tom Rhys Harries as Lucas, Colin Ryan as Vincent/Conrad, Louis Landau as Trent, Peter Serafinowicz as Kesslar/Mack/Manfred, Paterson Joseph as Bergan, David Dawson as Vega, David Yip as Huth/Hamwell, Kate Fleetwood as Queen Amelie/Tilly, Kim Adis as Erin, Kobna Holdbrook Smith as Hogan, Ralph Ineson as King Leopold, Rasmus Hardiker as Mikkel, Rob Rackstraw as Vankaskan/Vanmorten, Samuel Anderson as Broghan, Paul Antony-Barber as Ewan, and Anna Savva as Baba Korga.
