Telugu cinema’s iconic star Nagarajuna’s younger son Akhil has lately been in the news for lashing out at reports suggesting he was all set to do a remake of Ayan Mukerjee’s Ranbir Kapoor hit Yeh Jawaani HaiDeewani with director Vamshi Paidipally whose new film Oopiri featuring Nagarajuna is a raging hit.
Setting the record straight Akhil says, “We decided not to do a remake because Vamshi’s last film Ooopiri was a remake of French film. But we will definitely work together. “
Though Akhil is not doing Yeh Jawaani Hai Dewani with Vamshi he says he will do it at some point in the neat future. “Yeh Jawani… was never confirmed with Vamshi. It was an option because I love the film and will be doing it for sure some time in the near future.”
He is extremely miffed with what he sees as unsubstantiated reports on the collaboration. “Ill-informed websites have it all wrong. We had never even made an announcement .I don’t know where they get their information from.”
Adds Vamshi, “Akhil and I are mutually interested to work together but it is the content that has to excite us.The idea of remaking Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani had been ruled out by both of us long back.”
