The much-awaited Chinese drama Love’s Ambition premieres on September 26.
The series revolves around the sham marriages and the predicaments of urban elites. It follows Xu Yan (Zhao Lusi), who was raised by her grandmother and harbors emotional estrangement from her parents. By relying on her status as a host and a fabricated background, she marries Shen Haoming (William Chan), a man in control of everything. After experiencing the collapse of their marriage and setbacks in her career, the two tear off their masks, draw close to each other again, and embark on a journey of rediscovering themselves.
Popular host Xu Yan and urban elite Shen Hao Ming are a couple admired by everyone. Although they appear to be a perfect family, the differences in their backgrounds make it difficult for them to fit into each other’s social circles. Relying on her glamorous persona as a host and a “carefully crafted” background, Xu Yan successfully marries Shen Hao Ming, who holds the situation in his grasp.
When conflict arises, Xu Yan breaks free from Shen Hao Ming’s control, never to look back. But Shen Hao Ming realizes that he has fallen in love with Xu and now wants to win her back at all costs. After going through numerous trials, the two shed their facades, grow closer, and rediscover themselves.
Zhao Lusi plays Xu Yan. Raised by her grandmother since childhood, being estranged from her parents made her strong-willed and independent. Through her own efforts, the small-town girl got admitted to a prestigious university, and after nearly a decade of hard work, she secured a foothold in the big city. To people, she is a glamorous television host, but she has long concealed her true self.
William Chan plays Shen Hao Ming. He is a business elite who does not flaunt his true talents and maintains a “socially compatible marriage” with Xu Yan.
Wan Peng plays Qiao Lin, Xu Yan’s elder sister, who is close to Yu Yi Ming from their campus days.
Tang Xiao Tian plays Yu Yi Ming, who gets reunited with Qiao Lin in adulthood.
