Lisa Ray Down Under, But Says It’s Nothing To worry About
The very beautiful Lisa Ray had her well-wishers worried when she was reported unwell and hospitalized. Some years ago Lisa went through a life-changing health outrage when she was detected with a rare cancer.
This time connecting from Hong Kong Lisa says there is nothing to worry about. “Honestly it’s minor. I had my appendix removed recently and it’s become a very routine surgery. The only thing is I was working on a lovely film project and fortunately had completed most of my work but three days are pending so I have to return to India in July to complete the work.”
Her involvement with Multiple Myeloma, the disease that struck her some time ago remains undiminished. “I have to emphasize that while at present there is no cure and I am living with the disease, I believe that I can still live a full and satisfying life.
Lisa remains an incorrigible optimist. “I believe that miracles and break-through are available to us, if we make ourselves available to them. I have been so lucky. My career was a happy accident. I didn’t plan on any of it. From becoming a super model at 16 to starring in iconic videos like Afreen Afreen ,to my Bollywood launch in Kasoor to Deepa Mehta’s Water and and my stint on Top Chef it’s been a beautiful trajectory.”
Lisa will soon publish her memoirs. “I want to share my story and my adventures. A large part of my life recently has been informed by spirituality and the search for self-realization. Our lives cannot be reduced to sound bites. People may not realize how much my spiritual-seeking has defined my life and choices in the past few years. But I’m sure it had something to do with how I managed my cancer experience.”
As a woman Lisa feels specially empowered. “Every woman can make a difference. Change starts with yourself and your family. Women have the power to influence society because we are the source of creation.”
Her marriage to management consultant Jason Dehni continues to give Lisa a high in life.
“Jason is the perfect husband. If I knew marriage could be so much fun and at the same time so authentic and supportive maybe I would have explored it earlier. But I think I feel this because I am with the man who is perfect for me.”
