After Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor In Another Telugu Remake
The spectacular success of Kabir Singh has made Shahid Kapoor hungry for more material sourced from the South Indian languages .
We now hear Shahid is keen to do a Hindi version of the Telugu hit Jersey directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri which tells the story of a failed cricketer and his bonding with his young son.The Nani starrer was a huge success and a Hindi remake seemed just what the boxoffice ordered.
If all goes well, Shahid would be stepping into Nani’s shoes as soon as all the economic and creative logistics are worked out.
Says a source close to development, “Shahid is keenly looking at doing the Telugu film Jersey in Hindi. But the producers want to do the Hindi remake with the original Telugu director. This should not be a problem.Shahid knows Kabir Singh worked so spectacularly because the original director was retained for the Hindi version.”
Weirdly the original Telugu superstar invariably opts out of the Hindi remake. Ravi Teja was not even considered for the Hindi remake of Kick .Salman Khan took over. Vijay Deverakonda had no ambitions of encoring his role in Arjun Reddy. That’s how Shahid stepped in to the Hindi remake. Nani too, like MaheshBabu, seems happy being the king of Telugu cinema with no burning ambitions to take on Bollywood.
That’s how Shahid Kapoor will end up doing another blockbuster remake.
