Ali Zafar’s First Film Production Opens Amidst Harassment Allegations

Ali Zafar new feature film Teefa In Trouble , his first since Gauri  Shinde’s  Dear Zindagi and  actually his first Pakistani  film, didn’t have a smooth opening in his own  country.

Sources  from across the border inform that there were  protests  against  the release  in Pakistan this week.

“Though Ali ignored these  protests there’s no denying the fact that the allegations have  affected  his  grandiloquent  plans  of  producing the  most expensive Pakistani film. Teefa In  Trouble is  a family film for Ali. His wife and brother are involved in the  production and writing. He hoped to  rectify  his image  after the harassment allegations. But  the  troubles haven’t gone away,” says an actor  colleague from Pakistan.

The  film is also being criticized for  its weak script and  vapid humour. Also, the film seems more a showcase for  Ali Zafar’s comic virtuosity than any genuine attempt to take Pakistani cinema forward.

Sparing no expense Ali has shot his film in Poland . But Teefa In Trouble  doesn’t signal the end of Ali Zafar’s trouble, in spite of  a very large section of the Pakistani film industry believing in his  innocence  in the sexual harassment allegations.
