Alia’s Grace Reaches Across The Border

Among the many reference points that Alia Bhatt has used to inculcate an old-world grace in her personality for her character in Kalank , Pakistani actress Sanam Saeed figures very prominently.

Alia has revealed to me that she indeed imbibed Sanam Saeed’s demeanour and mannerisms while playing Roop in Kalank.

And now Sanam Saeed has responded to Alia’s referential compliment on twitter saying she is “tickled pink” by Alia using Sanam as a reference..

Alia says, “It is true I was asked by my director(Abhishek Varman) to watch Sanam Saeed in the Pakistani serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai before playing my character in Kalank.”

It is interesting to note that Kalank producer Karan Johar was quite taken up not too long ago with another actor from Zindagi Gulzar Hai Fawad Khan. Khan was cast in Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil .

We won’t be surprised if Sanam Saeed winds her way into a Karan Johar film once the tension between the two countries deescalates.
