On Children’s Day Bollywood Filmmakers Select Their Favourite Children’s Film

Abhishek Kapoor: “Inside Out is  my current  favourite children’s  film. The concept of having all your emotions becoming  characters and showing  his they behave was sheer genius. Just loved it.”

Satish Kaushik: “Mr India….Its comicbook structure is  still popular with kids and with grownups who grew up watching it since the 1980s. Characters like Mogambo and Calendar(played by yours truly) are infinitely iconic.”

Ali Abbas Zafar: “Mr India…it is the right balance of  inspiration, entertainment and craft.”

Gauri Shinde: “The Sound Of Music.I saw it with my dad. It was the first foreign film I saw. The  idea of so many siblings singing dancing and hanging out together with a  nanny who is such a joyful companion, was an idea that caught my fancy at that young age.”

Sanjay Gupta: “The Harry Potter series. Although I didn’t watch them as a child. But watching my little ones enjoying them as much they do, is incredible. I wish we could make something, anything, for kids to equal the Harry Potter series.”

Bejoy Nambiar: “The Sound Of Music. Grew up watching it a million times. Was awestruck every time.”

Ken Ghosh: “Mr India, if it can counted as  a children’s film. The story, characters, mounting ,music, the director Shekhar Kapoor, and last but not the least ‘Mr India’ AnilKapoor himself.”

Ali Abbas Zafar: “My favourite children’s film has to be Mr India

Raja Krishna Menon: :Majid Majidi’s  Children Of Heaven.

Rensil d’Silva: “Any film from the Harry Potter series is my favourite for its ingenuity  in creating a world that any kid would want to be a part of.”

Shujaat Saudagar: “Steven Spielberg’s ET. As a child  I was totally hooked to it. I’d look for an alien to take home as my secret guest. But Krissh beat me to it.Above this, ET had an amazing message on inclusivity , loving caring and sharing.I still love watching this film.”

Siddharth Anand: “Children Of Heaven directed by the great Majid Majidi. It is a must see for every kid and grownup to appreciate the value of money in life. These are values which are very hard to inculcate in today’s kids.”

Mrityunjay Devrat: “The Lion King. It had the most beautiful  build-up with adult emotions  that have been explained in such honest simplicity that it is a learning experience not just for children but also adults. I think the best children’s films are those that teach adults  a few lessons of life.”

Mudassar Aziz: “Mr India , of course. Shekhar Kapoor’s sci-fi twist to the ShammiKapoor starrer Bramhachari. When Mr India  released I was a very little boy and I absolutely loved how the kids were instrumental in taking the story forward. I fell in love with Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s characters. This film will remain forever in my heart.”

Kunal Kohli:  “Mr India. Is there any other children’s film made in this country?”
