Did Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s Instagram banter really mean they are back together or was it to keep them in the news?

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s cute banter on Instagram gave rise to speculation that the estranged couple had patched up. It’s a relationship which has been speckled by such speculations ever since they started dating each other since the last four years and recently they were again in the news when the reports of their breakup trickled in.

Ranveer and Deepika have been playing a cat-and-mouse game with the media for the last year while dealing with rumours about their breakup. Recently too Deepika and Ranveer had their little exchange on social media after the actor put up his pic from the Hello cover shoot, again scotching the rumours of their breakup.

Here’s what we found out when we asked around about their alleged breakup. Says a source from the film industry, “Apparently Deepika and Ranveer’s publicists had been asked to give the latest breakup story which was followed by their Insta posts. They have broken up for sure but are keeping it under wraps to create curiosity and hype around them till Padmavati releases. Though Ranveer and Deepika both don’t have scenes together in the film at all (Shahid and Deepika are paired together), once news of their breakup goes out, the excitement of the film may get dimmed a bit, especially during the film’s promotions when they will be traveling together. Padmavati is scheduled for a November release. If they were still a couple then why would she say hello to him on Instagram? She can always pick up the phone and call or message him or when they meet no? Nobody is asking why fake stories on their relationship are coming out every couple of months.”

The source adds that whenever Ranveer gets an opportunity he mentions Deepika’s name in the conversation publicly. “Apparently it was because of Ranveer that they broke up. Deepika was looking for a deeper commitment but Ranveer is young and loves to be friendly with everyone. He’s not ready to settle down. But the actor always mentions her name whenever he can. At Neha Dhupia’s podcast says he suggested the song Unforgettable by French Montana to Deepika. When Neha asked him who’s the best kisser in Bollywood even though Deepika’s name wasn’t in the list, Ranveer revealed Deepikas is the best. This keeps the buzz alive that the pair are on very close terms even now. But point to be noted is that the duo haven’t been seen attending any public event in recent times – together or separately. In March this year there was a rumour that Ranveer had skipped a certain style event to avoid bumping into Deepika and the paparazzi there.”

Now don’t be surprised if some more stories of their breakup surfaces followed by Deepika and Ranveer or indulging in some flirtatious banter social media again!
