Golden Globe winner M M Keeravani never met lyricist-poet Sayeed Quadri while working on the beautiful compositions of Jism(2003) which featured Bipasha Basu and John Abraham sharing sizzling chemistry.
About the mesmeric melodies of Jism producer Mahesh Bhatt shares, “Keeravani whom I named M M Kreem for his Bollywood stint , as one needed to revamp one’s brand while moving from one phase to another, did many fabulous scores for our films. He started with Criminal in 1994 with me which was a Telugu-Hindi bi-lingual featuring Nagarjuna, Ramya Krishna and Manisha Koirala. After Criminal Keeravani got his first Hindi project Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin.I suggested Keeravani’s name to Sudhir Mishra and Amit Khanna who back then ran a music-film production company Plus Channel. That’s how Keeravani got the opportunity to do Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin.”
Thereafter Keeravani/Kreem did a number of soundtracks for Mahesh Bhatt’s production including the timeless Zakham and Jism. For the latter Keeravani and lyricist Saeed Quadri did not meet at all.
“The entire score was done via the phone . I explained the meaning of Quadri’s words to Keeravani and he came up with the perfect tunes,” reveals Mahesh Bhatt.
Says Mahesh Bhatt, “Keeravani has the freeflowing talent of Leonard Cohen. Naatu naatu is only one of the great songs he has composed.”
