Rajkummar Rao Flies To Thailand To Shoot Bose Biopics’ Japan Portions
Cinema,in case we’ve forgotten, is all about the suspension of disbelief. Not too long ago Sanjay Leela Bhansali took the plot of Hum…Dil Chuke Sanam to Prague and turned it into Italy.
Now it’s history’s turn to get a makeover.
The webseries on Subhas Chandra Bose presented by Hansal Mehta has moved to Thailand to shoot the portions showing Bose’s exile in Japan.
A source close to the development reveals, “Shooting in Japan was not practical or feasible. The Thai territory lent itself well to creating an illusion of the Japanese landscape.”
Incidentally Ekta Kapoor and Hansal Mehta are leaving no stones unturned to ensure their Bose bio-pic turns out watchable. After the dismal boxoffice performance of Tigmashu Dhulia’s Raag Desh which was also about Subhas Chandra Bose, Hansal Mehta can’t afford to fail.
Mehta’s Bose is played by the very versatile Rajkummar Rao who left for Thailand immediately after the release of his new rom-com Bareilly Ki Barfi. Coming up soon is Kabir Khan’s webseries on Subhas Chandra Bose entitled The Forgotten Army which may star Saif Ali khan as Bose.
Years ago the very accomplished Sachin Khedkar had played Subhas Chandra Bose in Shyam Benegal’s film. Unfortunately not many saw Khedkar’s class act.
