Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkaar 3 seems to have impressed the Censor Board Of Film Certification. Sources at theCBFC describe the film as Ramu’s best in years.
However they’ve taken offence to a reference to Lord Hanuman in one of the dialogues and asked the director to remove it.
Says a source close to the development, “It’s a dialogue where Hanuman and Vivibhishana, one who burnt downLanka and one who ruled it, two characters from Ramayan are spoken about. We’ve asked them to delete the mythological reference as it doesn’t go well with the scene of the crime in the film.”
Apparently the jury members of the CBFC have been given power to impose a blanket ban on all mythological/religious references that are out of their original context.
This is the second time ‘Hanuman’ has come under the censor scanner. Last month Anushka Sharma’s Phillauriwas told to get rid of actor Suraj Sharma’s chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa.
CBFC chairperson Pahlaj Nihalani says, “We’ve to be very very careful about religious sentiments. We’re living in ultra-sensitive times where even a passing reference to a religious figure could trigger off legal action against the film’s makers , and the CBFC. At the same time we’re very careful to not disturb the flow of the narrative in any film. We ask for no changes that affect the story.”
