Scoop: Actress Renuka Shahane Turns Director With Shabana Azmi In The Lead

 She  is a formidable name on Indian television. Now Renuka Shahane is all set to  turn director with a Hindi film that will star  the indomitable  Shabana Azmi in the lead. The sparkling Mithila Palkar who  made  her very  promising  large-screen  debut  in  Karwaan last year  will also play a prominent  role in  the  film.There were  rumours  of Kajol also joining the cast. But  apparently the  mercurial actress  declined the  offer.

Confirming these cast members  Renuka says, “I am directing a  film with  Shabanaji and Mithila.There  is  a third  protagonist in the film. I am  in  the  process  of finalizing  for that part.”

The film  spans the lives  of three generations  of  women. This isn’t the  first film that Renuka directs. She earlier directed a  Marathi film  Rita which was  a screen  adaptation of Renuka’s mother Shanta Gokhale’s novel.
