Shradha Kapoor Pushes Nehwal Bio-Pic Ahead To Do Batti Gul
Wait. It’s not over yet. Fans of badminton can heave a sigh of relief. The Saina Nehwalbio-pic which was rumoured to be shelved is actually on hold.
Shradha Kapoor who plays Saina Nehwal decided to squeeze in another project directorShree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu, before starting the Nehwal bio-pic.
Says a source close to the development, “When producer Prernaa Arora offered ShradhaBatti Gul Meter Chalu she immediately fell in love with her character and the film. But the dates were clashing with the Nehwal bio-pic. A solution was worked out between producersPrernaa Arora of Batti Gul… and producer Bhushan Kumar who’s co-producing both BattiGul … the Saina Nehwal bio-pic. Bhushan agreed to postpone his film by a few months to accommodate Prernaa’s film into Shrdadha’s schedule.”
Shradha will now start Batti Gul Meter Down in April and begin shooting for the Nehwalbio-pic from September 1 with director Amole Gupte. In the meanwhile Shradha is excited about getting to play a smalltown girl opposite Shahid Kapoor in Batti Gul Meter Down. The last time Shradh came together with Shahid, she was disastrous in Vishal Bhardwaj’sHaidar.
Not her fault entirely, since the director made her speak what he thought was an authentic Kashmiri language. Ecah time she opened her mouth audiences burst out laughing.
Batti Gul Meter Down is Shradha’s chance to redeem her screen partnership with ShahidKapoor.
Apparently she loved her role so much that she not only agreed to accommodate the dates required by postponing the Nehwal bio-pic, she also agreed to take a price cut for the chance to work with the director of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.
