Sridevi’s Mom Shares Same Plot As Raveena’s Maatr?

Oops and ouch. In the Raveena Tandon starrer Maatr(Mother) which opened this weekRaveena Tandon goes on a killing spree to avenge her daughter’s rape and murder.

Now one hears Sridevi plays a mother avenging her daughter’s rape in new-director Ravi Udayavar’s Mom.

An unnamed source feels the release of Raveena’s film ahead of Sridevi’s film, steals the thunder from Sridevi’s film.  “In the first-half of Mom Sridevi’s daughter, played by Pakistani actress Sajal Ali,is victimized. In the second-half her mother played by Sridevidoes a vigilante act to get even with her daughter’s wrongdoers. This is exactly the format that we saw  in Maatr recently.”

We’ve seen  in  the past how two films with the same storyline can kill each other at the boxxofice. In 1984, Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan battled at the boxoffice with Aaj Ka MLA Ram Avtar and Inquilab, respectively. Mr Bachchan’s film made it two months ahead of the other film. It got  a better opening.

Apparently the makers of Mom are not worried.Says a source, “They are confident of Sridevi’s magic.”
