This  Friday Akshay Kumar’s  Sooryavanshi Competes  With Marvel’s Eternals & Rajnikanth’s  Annaatthe, Film Trade Reacts

Akshay Rathi(film exhibitor):  “The beauty  of these releases is that  they have the  capability to complement  one  another very effectively at  the  boxoffice. So   Eternal from Marvel’s superhero  universe had a massive fan following  of  its music. Similarly  superstar   Rajinikanth’s  fan following in  the South is phenomenal. I expect  some  massive numbers from Annaatthe.Sooryavanshi  is one of  the  most anticipated  films of the year, in IHindi. Each has  its own audience.  There  is  hardly a curious. It’s celebration of cinema  that will bring back the audience  into cinemas  across the length  and  breath   of  our country. So I am very happy to see  all these  films coming out together. As  acinema exhibitor I  am  incredibly happy that we can provide such  a wide variety  of  movies  to our viewers. There is something for everyone in the movie theatres this Diwali.

Girish Johar(producer  and  film business expert):  “I am personally very excited. I am further more excited to see that our fraternity members, across industries, are talking about the films and promoting the same. Vidyut Jammwal, Allu Arjun etc have shown their support. Hollywood also went out similarly and everyone as one unit requested audiences to come back to cinemas. And look where the Hollywood box office is right now. So we are also following suit. I am personally very bullish and the promotions are also happening with full force. So I really hope that the film takes a fantastic start. Its too early. Though few states have allowed 100% occupancy, still some states are operating at 50, 60 or 70% occupancy. They plan to open at 3000+ screens, so the least I am expecting 50-60% of pre-pandemic opening. Also another 1000+ screens overseas will be an added bonus.Annaatthe will be huge down south and in the overseas too. Rajinikanth Sir has a tremendous following. And his fans are eagerly awaiting for the potential Blockbuster. Eternals is releasing in multiple languages will be an up market and top city premium offering specially for English speaking multiplex audiences. Is also expected to be decent at the box office for all languages combined.”

Amod Mehra(Trade analyst):  Sooryavanshi not only has competition from other biggies but also is bogged down with the confrontation with the exhibitors with the result that the advance bookings have not opened so far..To make things worse the film is looking unexciting and appears to be a routine action drama..As it’s a very costly film and with Maharastra only allowing 50% audience it appears to be a gigantic task to even break even.
