Kapil Dev To Promote His Bio-Pic?

Kabir Khan’s  ‘83 in which  Ranveer Singh plays  Kapil Dev,is likely to  be released  soon. But the question is, will Kapil promote  the film alongside Ranveer, the way Dhoni had promoted Dhoni The Untold Story  alongside Sushant Singh Rajput?

 Sources say Kapil  Dev  has agreed to be part of the film’s promotion, but in a limited capacity.

“Kapil Paaji went through a health issue in October 2020. He was  advised to take it easy. The  ’83 producers, Reliance Entertainment and  Kabir Khan are  not too sure of  how much they can fall back on the real Kapil and  the publicity may  just have to be shouldered by the  on-screen Kapil,” says the source in  the know.

 However Kapil sources say Kapil  has agreed  to be part  of  the publicity  in a limited way. Incidentally Sanjay Dutt who recently  went through a health  issue is also determined to be  part of the  publicity and marketing of his film KGF2 with Yash.

 Recreating the events  during India’s grand victory during  the  1983  Cricket World Cup , this Kabir Khan-directed sports  epic   stars Ranveer Singh as the iconic  Indian batsman  Kapil Dev and Ranveer’s real life  as  Kapil’s  wife Roma.  

In addition, there is an impressive slew  of actors playing  real-life cricketers .But the  main focus of interest is Ranveer Singh’s unbelievable physical transformation  as  Kapil Dev.

 Says  director Kabir Khan, “Cinema  and  cricket are  religion in India.When the two  come together  there is  bound to be a humongous amount of interest in the product.”    ’83 which was  to release  in  April  2020 will wait  for normalcy to be  restored so that audiences can watch  the  biggest  fusion of cricket and cinema since Ashutosh Gowariker’s  Lagaan.
