April 2025 is bringing movies for viewers of all ages and for all tastes, and these, along with some of March’s biggest hits, are now playing in theaters. 2024 was an interesting and successful year for the film industry, with big hits from different genres – and 2025 has been off to a great start. The first months of the year brought movies like the one-of-a-kind biographical musical Better Man, the horror movie Wolf Man, a new Paddington movie, and more.
April started strong with the Mickey Mouse horror movie Screamboat, the fantasy movie A Minecraft Movie, and the horror comedy Hell of a Summer. Joining these and some of March’s most successful releases this weekend is Christopher Landon’s latest movie, a spy thriller starring Rami Malek, and a war movie with an all-star cast.

Drop
Drop Was Released On April 11, 2025
Drop is a mystery thriller film directed by Christopher Landon. Drop follows Violet, a widowed mother who goes on a date with a man named Henry. However, during the date, she begins to be terrorized by an anonymous source who sends her messages to her phone via AirDrop. The caller orders her to not alert anyone or her sister and her son will be killed, and begins to give her instructions on what to do, with Henry as their next target.

The Amateur
The Amateur Was Released On April 11, 2025
The Amateur is a spy thriller directed by James Hawes. The Amateur follows CIA cryptographer Charles Heller, whose life takes a turn when his wife is killed in a terrorist attack. Charles’ supervisors refuse to take action and find those responsible, so Charles decides to do it himself. However, he’s not trained to be a killer, so he has to use his intelligence and strategic mind to find and face his wife’s killers.

Warfare
Warfare Was Released On April 11, 2025
Warfare is a war action movie directed by Ray Mendoza and Alex Garland. Warfare follows a platoon of Navy SEALS on a surveillance mission through insurgent territory in 2006, but it doesn’t go as expected. Warfare is based on Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War as a former U.S. Navy SEAL, and the story is told in real time. Warfare’s all-star cast includes names like Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, and Michael Gandolfini.

A Minecraft Movie

A Minecraft Movie is a fantasy adventure comedy movie based on the popular video game Minecraft. Directed by Jared Hess, A Minecraft Movie follows four misfits who are pulled through a portal into the Overworld, a strange, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, the group will have to master this world and protect it from all sorts of evil things, while they also embark on a magical quest with an expert crafter named Steve. This journey will lead them to reconnect with what makes them uniquely creative, which will be key to returning home.

Hell of a Summer is a comedy horror movie directed by Finn Wolfhard and Billy Byrk. Hell of a Summer is set in Camp Pineway, as the counselors prepare everything the night before the campers arrive. Among the counselors is Jason Hochberg, a 24-year-old young man and the oldest of the group, who is constantly made fun of for insisting on returning every year. Despite feeling left out, Hochberg and the rest are forced to come together when a masked killer is on the loose and has chosen them as targets.

Based on Chuck Dixon’s 2014 novel Levon’s Trade, A Working Man centers on Levon Cade, a former Royal Marines commando now working in construction. When the teenage daughter of Levon’s boss is taken by human traffickers, Levon uses his old skills to find her, and in the process, he uncovers a disturbing web of corruption that goes all the way into the government.

Death of a Unicorn follows Elliot and his daughter Riley, who, on their way to a summit with his boss, hit a unicorn with their car. His boss’ family takes the unicorn and has their scientists study it, discovering it has supernaturally curative powers, which they want to exploit. However, when the unicorn’s parents arrive, they begin to slaughter all those involved in their child’s death.

Snow White
Snow White Was Released On March 21, 2025
The latest live-action version of a Disney animated movie has arrived. Based on the 1937 animated movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs comes Snow White, directed by Marc Webb. Snow White tells the story of the title princess, who lives with her vain and cruel stepmother, the Evil Queen. When the Evil Queen tries to get Snow White killed, she flees into the woods and finds refuge with seven kindhearted dwarfs, but the Evil Queen won’t stop until she finds her and gets rid of her.

Mickey 17
Mickey 17 Was Released On March 7, 2025
Mickey 17 is a sci-fi black comedy directed by Bong Joon-ho. Based on the 2022 novel Mickey7, by Edward Ashton, Mickey 17 follows Mickey Barnes, who signs up to be an “expendable” in the human colony Nilfheim. This turns Mickey into a disposable clone worker, and he’s sent on high-risk assignments his superiors know he won’t survive, as a new body is generated every time he dies. One day, however, the Mickey 17 clone is believed to be dead and is replaced, but when the two Mickeys meet, they panic as only one iteration of an expandable may exist at one time.
