Kartik Aaryan sets the internet afire with ‘Dhamaka’ trailer

The slickly-cut trailer of Netflix’s forthcoming post-Diwali attraction Dhamaka has become a rage. In the first three days since it started streaming the trailer garnered a staggering viewership of 40 million views, and still  counting.

Go ahead, whistle.

This is not only a new record for feature films premiering on the OTT platform, but also for Kartik Aaryan’s career. The young actor has so far had big successes on the large screen like Lukka Chuppi, Pati Patni Aur Woh and of course Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. But nothing to compare with the euphoria that has gathered momentum after the trailer of Dhamaka was unleashed.

Says producer and trade expert Girish Johar, “Kartik Aaryan is one of the most promising actors and a rising superstar in the film fraternity today. He has proved his acting prowess so many times and with each outing of his, he climbs the ladder with loads of experience and success. Similarly, his trailer of Dhamaka was not only eagerly awaited, but has been so superbly well received too. Yet again, telling new stories, different genre, fast thriller, this time has raised a lot of eye brows and expectations. Eagerly looking forward to this one.”

Veteran author, journalist and critic Bharathi Pradhan says the combination of Kartik Aaryan and director Ram Madhvani can’t fail. “Right from his Let’s Talk with Boman Irani and his short film This Bloody Line on the Radcliffe line to Neerja and Aarya, I have admired Ram Madhvani‘s work. Therefore, when one heard that Kartik Aaryan had a Ram Madhvani film in hand, one knew that this young, self-made actor would soon be back in action. With Dhamaka, I believe he will be back, literally with a bang. The trailer of Dhamaka fortified this belief. Kartik as a TV anchor whose heart is in his mouth as he watches his wife in a blast area, a story he’s covering live, has all the hallmarks of an engrossing thriller. This film I’ll definitely watch.”

Trade analyst Atul Mohan is impressed. “In one word DHAMAKEDAAR! Kartik in a new avatar shedding his rom-com image in a thriller, stylishly shot by Ram Madhvani. The response to the trailer has been outstanding which means Kartik’s fans have already given a thumbs up to it. The film has always been in news since its inception and the hype has been justified with the trailer. So far so good… looking forward to the film and of course Kartik’s performance.”

Kishan Damani a leading film distributor feels Dhamaka  belongs to the big screen. “Personally I loved the trailer. It has an epic look to it. It should have been a theatrical release .The audience won’t be able to enjoy this on the home screen. Stars and their stardom come from the theatres only and not by home-viewing.”
