Karan Johar’s Takht Is Not A Homage To Bhansali But Game Of Thrones
Karan Johar is all set to direct his first costume drama with a star cast that reads like the who’s who of Bollywood.
The budget, we hear would roll into a staggering Rs 350-400 crores. Not that Karan is counting. Apparently, he’s paying the entire cast from Anil Kapoor to Ranveer Singh their full market price. No discount for personal relations, thank you.
Interestingly Takht is already being compared with the cinema of Sanjay Leela Bhansali a director Karan has openly envied and admired for years.

So is Takht Karan Johar’s reply to the opulent costumed epics of Bhansali?
The answer is a yes, and a no.
Because while Bhansali is clearly an inspiration for the periodicity to be projected into Takht Johar it seems is out to do his own Game Of Thrones.
Says a source in the know, “Takht is going to be Bollywood’s Game Of Thrones. That’s Karan’s brief to all his actors and technicians. The opulence, the scale, the costumes and the entire look and flavour of the film will be inspired by Game Of Thrones. Takht would present the bloodied power tussle during the Moghul empire in the style of Game Of Thrones.”
