No Qawwalli In Heeramandi

 There were reports in  a section  of the  press that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is shooting a Qawwalli with Aditi Hydari Rao  and Manisha Koirala  for his  seven-part webseries  for Netflix Heeramandi  at  Film City in Mumbai.

However sources close to the project laugh off the  report as ridiculous .

“Sanjay Bhansali is  not  making  Mughal-e-Azam and Manisha and Aditi are not Madhubala  and Nigar Sultana  locked in a Qawwali competition. In Heeremandi  Bhansali  has  updated  the  traditional tropes  of  the  tawaif  genre. There is  dancing  yes, but very little. And absolutely no  Qawwali,” say the  source.

Heeramandi  a message-in-a-brothel  saga  about a bunch  of happy-go-lucky  women in a  brothel stars  Richa  Chadha, Adito Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha. Huma Qureshi   and  Manisha  Koirala.
