Vivek Agnihotri

The  Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri has been  provided ‘Y’ category security by the Central  Government. This  decision was taken at the highest level  after Vivek Agnihotri and his wife actress Pallavi Joshi   received  continuous  threats from  unknown sources  after the release of their  hugely controversial  massively successful expose  on the  killing and migration  of  lakhs of   Kashmiri Pandits in 1990.

Vivek Agnihotri admitted there was  a risk. “Yes there have been  threats. The  Government insisted on providing the security.I  don’t believe anyone can harm me as long as the  people of India are with me”

Vivek Agnihotri has  broken   some highly sacrosanct  tenets and rules  of the film industry. There is  a  deep resentment among the movie moghuls  of  the  film industry against his venturing into an area where angels  fear to tread. That apart, there are  many radical elements gunning for  Vivek  after he  exposed the conspiracy of silence against  the  Pandits.

Vivek Agnihotri is  currently travelling  across the  country  speaking  about his film  to the  public and hence exposed to grave risk.

Anupam Kher whose  rousing  performance as  a dying dementia-inflicted  homeless Kashmiri Pandit,  has moved audiences to tears says the threats  won’t  intimidate them. “The fact that there are some serious  threats  is  proof that  some section of  our society—and I  don’t need to them—are  very insecure and frightened after  being exposed  in The  Kashmir Files. Vivek Agnihotri has made a  film that has  shaken the nation. We  must celebrate  his  success as  the success of fairness justice and equality,” says  Anupam.
