15  Films To Die For In The Second-Half Of 2016

1. BFG :Piku all over again! Once upon a time the Big B and Parineeti Chopra were supposed to come together as father and daughter in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku.Steven Spielberg has achieved what Shoojit couldn’t. In Spielberg’s new film Big B and Parineeti speak in Hindi for the Giant and his daughter-like friend.  The Bachchan baritone transports the dubbed Hindi version of Steven Spielberg’s dazzling epic adaptation to another  level altogether.The Big B speaks for  the BFG(Big Friendly Giant) played by the very talented Mark Rylance(stepping into a role written for the late Robin Williams).The little girl whom the Giant befriends speaks in Hindi in Parineeeti’s voice. After hearing Varun Dhawan speak for Captain America ,it’s the Bachchan Baritone for the oversized super-hero . Nice. Release date July 22.

2. Madaari: Director Nishikant Kamat and actor Irrfan Khan come together again after the scathing Mumbai Meri Jaanfor a film about a common man on a rampage against the Establishment. This , we’ve got to see.15 July.
3. Dhishoom: John Abraham and Varun Dhawan on a trail to crack a cricket-betting racket.RohitDhawan directs this slickly executed blues-chaser.The film also stars a kirpandangling dangerously at a forbidden angle. We shall let that be.29 July.
4. Rustom: Akshay is NOT playing K M Nanavati the honourable naval officer who murdereds  his wife’s lover who happened to be his best friend. And this is NOT one of the most exciting true-life dramas of the year. 29 July.
5. Mohenjo Daro:  Ahutosh Gowariker and  Hrithik Roshan back together after Jodhaa-Akbar, all set to recreate history.A R Rahman joins the time-travel .  29 July.
6. A Flying Jatt: Tiger Shroff as a super-hero …the harness needn’t be used to make this super-hero fly.25 August.
7. Akira: Sonakshi Sinha is the hero of the film. So what does that make Amit Sadh? ParmabrataChatterjee had famously  described himself as the heroine of Kahaani.Interestingly thisMurugadoss-directed film is the only prominent heroine-oriented film of the year.2 September

9. Miryza: The intriguing Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra launches Anil Kapoor’s son HarshvardhanKapoor along with Saiyami Kher in this re-telling of the legendary love tale.Promises to be this year’s  love classic. 7 October.
10. Ae Dil Hai Muskil: Karan Johar’s super-interesting ensemble cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan,Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan ensures our full concentration on this year’s Diwali release.28 October.
11. Shivaay: Ajay Devgn directs himself in what promises to be the most riveting action film of the year. 28 October.

Rock On 2:  8 years after the first film Farhan Akhtar and the Rock OnTeam returns with a new director the talented Shujaat Saudaagar since the original director Abhishek kapoor was busy creating the monumental , giggle, Fitoor. This time Rock On has the added tadka of ShraddhaKapoor acting and crooning alongside Farhan. N-i-c-e! 11 November.
13. Force 2: John Abraham promises better bigger action in the sequel. Abhinay Deo of Delhi Bellydirects this actioner which promises to give Devgn’s Shivaaya run for its ‘meanie’…Watch out forTahir Raj Bhasin as the villain opposite John.
14. Befikre: Aditya Chopra returns to direction after  8 years with what promises to be the most torrid and sexy film in Yashraj Films’ oeuvre. Aditya’s blue-eyed boy Ranveer Singh cozies up withVani Kapoor in this Parisian liplock binge. 9 December.
15. Dangal: If it’s Christmas it’s got to be turkey , and Aamir Khan. This time he plays real-life pehelwanMahavir Singh Phogat who trained his daughters to be wrestlers. Mighty Aamir and his Sultry Sultana in the ring  this year . 23 December.
